Books of the Bible!

The Bible consists of 66 books, written by the Spirit of God and the hand of 40 men, over a period of 4,100 years.  (II Peter 1:20-21; II Timothy 3:16-17) These books were included in the Bible because:

1 - God clearly reveals Himself in these books
2 - God reveals the coming of Christ, whether specifically or implied in these books
3 - The accuracy of these books geologically, historically and prophetically has been proven beyond doubt
4 - God validates the writings, either by Christ, prophets,  and apostles cross-referencing the books so accurately

If for no other reason, the fact that over 2/3 of the prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled exactly as phophecied is miraculous and gives the book undeniable credibility. The remaining 1/3 time has not come yet. Only a supernatural and divine entity could do that - His name is God, the Creator of all things! Consider reading "Reasons to Believe: Fulfilled Prophecy: Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible".

There are many other reasons, but these are some of the main reasons why these books of the Bible were chosen.   The next several weeks, we will go over at least three key points from each book of the Bible, starting with the twelve minor prophet books: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.  Hopefully this will help us have a clear, well-rounded picture and idea of why this Book is so important.  The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8) It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63)

There are 13 books that were not included in the Bible, referred to as The Apocryphal Books.  Consider reading more detailed information about why these books were not included with the 66 books that were included in the Bible: http://bible-truth.org/Apocrypha.html .  Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15) Let the study begin!
