Power in the Name!

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11) Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

God gave Jesus a name above all other names, the name Son of God.  He is the ONLY begotten Son of God.  (Luke 1:31-32) No other person could or can make that claim honestly.  Because He is the Son of God, God has given Him all power and authority. (John 3:35)  The following scripture shows that even if a person's motives aren't sincere, the name of Jesus still has power:

Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. (Philippians 1:15-18) Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:22-23)

We Christians have a responsibility to tell others the Truth, whenever the opportunity arises.  We can't make anyone accept Christ, but God will bless us for doing our part: How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,Who bring glad tidings of good things!” [Isaiah 52:7] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” [Isaiah 53:1] So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:14-17)

Not only will we receive forgiveness in Jesus name, have power in Jesus name and be blessed for telling others about Jesus, but we also can have our prayers answered in Jesus name.  Ask in the name of Jesus, according to God's will, and God will answer. (John 14, 15, 16)
