Blood, and Water - 1 of 2!

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.  And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.(John 19:34-35, Apostle John testifying of what he had witnessed with his own eyes)

Blood
God requires a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.  Why?  That's a question we may not clearly understand the answer to while in the flesh.  But He is God and that is His requirement.  The sacrifice of an animal was used by the Jews to make atonement for their sins: For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ (Leviticus 17:11)

Unfortunately, the law requirement of making a sacrifice became just a ritual and not a sincere desire to receive forgiveness and turn away from sin.  God had had enough of their sacrifices; His true desire was for the people to obey Him. (Isaiah 1:1-20)  But they, just like we are now, were unable to completely obey God's comands; Therefore, when He [Jesus the Christ] came into the world, He said: Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.’” (Hewbrews 10:5-7)

The Holy Communion was instituted by Christ as a way for us to remember the sacrifce He made for us by dying for our sins.  We know we are not to actually eat the flesh or drink the blood of a person.  But eating the bread and drinking the wine of communion symbolizes the real sacrifice Christ made, of giving His body for usAnd He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. (Luke 22:19:20)  Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:53-54)

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:14-15) Jesus is God's final and perfect sacrifice. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior today!
