Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him [God the Father] who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.” (John 12:44-50)
The english word "judge" is used in the english translations of scripture, sometimes where a more appropriate alternate word could have been used. Jesus did "judge" peoples behavior, actions and choices, letting them know clearly whether they were right or wrong. But here, the word "condemn" would better explain what Jesus said. He didn't come to condemn the world, but to save the world. We condemn ourselves to either heaven, if we believe His Word, or hell, if you refuse to believe His Word.
Beyond that, He also came to give all people hope and opportunity to be saved. The world taught that "God" was angry and men had to "do" in order to reconcile their relationship with Him. But Christ came to let ALL PEOPLE know that you just have to believe the Word of God, Jesus Christ, to be saved: Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh — ... — that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:11-13)
God did require sacrifices be made in order to make atonement for sins (Leviticus 4), but none of the sacrifices could save the people. They were just a foreshadow of the salvation to come through Christ (Revelations 21): The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29)
Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today! Pray sincerely and ask God to forgive you of your sins and fill you with His Holy Spirit! Don't wait until you get right, or hope you have time to finish doing all kinds of things before you become a Christian, or until you understand the Word - the day will never come for you to do all of those things! Just come to God as you are, in the name of Jesus Christ and He will make you into the person He created you to be: Therefore, ...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12 -13)
