WISDOM (Proverbs): Learning Right from Wrong!

Doing wrong is like play to a fool, but a man of understanding has wisdom. (Proverbs 10:23 NLV) A man will be praised for his wisdom, but a man with a sinful mind will be hated. (Proverbs 12:8 NLV) A fool does not find joy in understanding, but only in letting his own mind be known. (Proverbs 18:2 NLV)

God's wisdom really causes us to reevaluate our way of thinking;  “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2) Doing the wrong thing is always the wrong things, no matter how we try to justify it.  And if we continue in doing the wrong things, we are a fool.  In order to know right from wrong, all of us have to be taught, our minds have to be transformed by its renewing.  But if we refuse to listen, but only in letting our own mind be known, we'll never listen and learn to be wise.

The mouth of those who are right with God flows with wisdom, but the sinful tongue will be stopped. (Proverbs 10:31 NLV) One who laughs at the truth looks for wisdom and does not find it, but much learning is easy to him who has understanding. Go away from a foolish man, for you will not find words of much learning. The wisdom of the wise man is to understand what to do, but lying is the foolish way of fools. (Proverbs 14:6-8 NLV) The tongue of the wise uses much learning in a good way, but the mouth of fools speaks in a foolish way. (Proverbs 15:2 NLV) Once we realize that we need to learn how to become wise, then we need to be careful from whom we receive our teaching.  Just like when we went to school, whether we agreed with the information taught or not, we had to learn it to gain knowledge, but we couldn't believe everything that we were taught.  Only with wisdom were we able to "...gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” (Matthew 13:30); or in other words, retain the information that we know is right, gather the wheat into my barn, but don't receive as truth the information we know is wrong, burn the tares.

He who is careful in what he says has much learning, and he who has a quiet spirit is a man of understanding. (Proverbs 17:27 NLV) Even a fool, when he keeps quiet, is thought to be wise. When he closes his lips, he is thought of as a man of understanding. (Proverbs 17:28 NLV) The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters. Wisdom comes like a flowing river making a pleasant noise. (Proverbs 18:4 NLV) The plan in a man’s heart is like water in a deep well, but a man of understanding gets it out. (Proverbs 20:5 NLV) So we should have a desire to become wise, then we should realize that we need to learn right from wrong.  Now we have to learn to have a desire to listen to Wisdom so that we can become wise and learn right from wrong.  All of us know someone or maybe we ourselves talk so much that no one can tell us anything.  In order to ...receive the things of the Spirit of God, ... they are spiritually discerned. (I Corinthians 2:14) Jesus promised that when we become Christians, His Holy Spirit would come and abide in us, ...the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26) The Holy Spirit will help us grow in wisdom, but we have to be quiet and "listen" to Him, as we study the Word of God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (I Corinthians 1:13)

The teaching of the wise is a well of life, to save one from the nets of death. (Proverbs 13:14 NLV) The one who is easy to fool believes everything, but the wise man looks where he goes. (Proverbs 14:15 NLV) A wise man fears God and turns away from what is sinful, but a fool is full of pride and is not careful. (Proverbs 14:16 NLV) Those who are easy to fool are foolish, but the wise have much learning. (Proverbs 14:18 NLV) An understanding mind gets much learning, and the ear of the wise listens for much learning. (Proverbs 18:15 NLV) When the man who laughs at the truth is punished, the fool becomes wise. When a wise man is taught, he gets much learning. (Proverbs 21:11 NLV) No matter what our age, we are never too old to become wise, to learn right from wrong. "When we know better, we should do better!"  Even a fool can become wise; all he has to do is Open your heart to teaching, and your ears to words of much learning. (Proverbs 23:12 NLV)
