HEBREWS: The Perfect Sacrifice (cont.); Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me!"
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. (Hebrews 10:1-4)
There is nothing we can add to or take away from what God has done through Christ Jesus (see Jesus + Nothing = Salvation). Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ [Psalm 40:6-8]” Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (Hebrews 10:5-10)
Christ Jesus is IT!!! There is no other way to be saved, there is nothing else we have to do to be saved, there is nothing else we have to believe in to be saved: But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:4-10)
And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool [Psalm 110:1]. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, [Jeremiah 31:33]” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. [Jeremiah 31:34]” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. (Hebrews 10:11-18)
Christ Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins, but He didn't just become our sacrifice. He also sanctified us, by filling us with His Holy Spirit, ...in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. ... Now
we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is
from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to
us by God.(I Corinthians 2:4-5, 12) The only sacrifice we have to make now, if we believe in Christ Jesus, is ...that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1) Give our lives to God, believe the Word of God, in Christ Jesus, and give ourselves to His service, through the empowering of His Holy Spirit - this is our "perfect" sacrifce!
